Funeral Pre-planning

Funeral Pre-planning

Pre-planning is an opportunity to examine and record your own final wishes.
It is a chance to consider decisions that you can make in advance of your funeral which takes the ambiguity away from those left behind. It allows you to communicate openly to your family about how to best manage your wishes. It relieves your loved ones from the anxiety, emotional and even financial burden that they may experience otherwise.
There are two options to consider when planning ahead for a funeral;
Examining and recording your final wishes
Examining and recording your final wishes with consideration for the payment of your funeral expenses
1. Examining and Recording your final wishes
There are typically three stages to planning a funeral
  • The Viewing/Visitation
  • The Public Ceremony
  • The Committal
2. Examining and recording your final wishes with consideration for the payment of your funeral expenses
There are three main options for planning the financial cost of a funeral:
Opening an account with a financial institution with a specific amount of money set aside to pay for a funeral
One-off pre-paid funeral plan with a third party protected by a well-established trust fund
Insurance scheme – e.g. a life assurance insurance based funeral plan
